Gathering stock ready for the next fair which is at Knepp Castle, West Sussex, on June 3rd and 4th. Looks like its going to be a fun, relaxed and quirky event with a vintage/festival vibe, and plenty to see, do and buy. I’m looking forward to this one… hopefully camping in the sunshine too! See you there! Check out their website: Floral Fringe Fair Website
I’ll be there, with a selection of my latest work… should be a lovely couple of days with lots of vintage and hand-made treasures for your house and garden, all in a stunning setting.
Well done Carol! This student had previously only attended a couple of beginner courses… this weekend she completed this challenging project! All ready to feed the birds in her garden now.
Five brave students faced an intensive weekend of making on 11th and 12th March. From beginner to experienced, there were plenty of challenges in this two-day workshop, with lots of techniques covered (borders, French randing, waling, chasing, binding), and a difficult shape to master with some very fiddly gaps to weave between. They all did fantastically well and produced some very pleasing work. Well done all!
In process photos below, hopefully with some in-situ finished work shots to follow:
To celebrate my new website and email address, here is a dog in a basket (now, there’s an idea!)…
Hope to see you at the Great Dixter Christmas Fair this weekend. Should be a great atmosphere and lots of quality products from local makers. Spread the word!
I have new shoulder bags in stock, in a range of shapes and sizes. These can be used as foraging vessels or handbags, and can take a surprising amount of weight. They are stylish, practical and unique. Leather straps made from reclaimed leather from Wolfram Lohr’s workshop (http://wolframlohr.bigcartel.com).
Each ‘basket-bag’ costs £75-80 each.
I will be taking them to the Great Dixter Winter Fair at the end of the month (26th/27th0, and if there are any left, to Wilderness Woods for their fair on the first weekend of December.
If you’d rather take your pick before they are released to the masses, get in touch!
I’ve been enjoying a few unusual commissions this summer, which has been fun and challenging. Now starting to make stock for the upcoming local winter fairs and events, namely:
- Tunbridge Wells Farmers Markets: 12th November; 10th and 22nd December (9am-2pm, outside Town Hall)
- Great Dixter Winter Fair: 26th & 27th November (details to follow)
- Wilderness Wood Winter Fair: 3rd and 4th December (10am-4pm), Hadlow Down, East Sussex.
Looking forward to meeting old and new customers!
From 19th – 28th August there will be an exciting programme of arts events held in and around Rushlake Green in East Sussex. Check the link to the website:
I will be demonstrating basketmaking at the ‘Craft in the Making’ event at the village hall in Bodle Street Green (BN27 4UB), 11am-4pm on Saturday 20th August.
Busy in the workshop again today on another commission for someone’s garden. They wanted an asymmetric, rope-coil pod-like form. Really enjoying making these, although its very physical using all that material… I need a massage now!
